This Sunday in DC: Two Fantastic Streetsblog Events

We can’t wait for this weekend to come! As hundreds of cycling advocates begin to descend on Washington, DC, for the National Bike Summit, Streetsblog will be kicking off the festivities with two very exciting events. You are cordially invited to both of them, whether or not you’re attending the Summit.

This Sunday, March 2 we’ll be gathering at the Renaissance Hotel (999 9th St. NW), site of the Bike Summit, for the first-ever Streetsblog media training for livable streets advocates. The first session, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30, will be a panel of reporters, there to help you learn how best to get your message into the media. And the second session, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., will be a panel of DIY media makers — including Clarence Eckerson of Streetfilms — talking about how you can make your own media. After the media training, we’ll be ready to wet our whistles at a neighborhood bar with 30 beers on tap and another 300 in bottles. We’ll walk just two blocks to RFD (810 7th St. NW) and sidle up to their back bar for some snacks and libations. It’s a great opportunity for Streetsblog readers and writers to meet in person (and not just in the comments section). Ten bucks at the door gets you a free drink. We’ll be there from 7:00 to 9:00, and then go home for a good night’s rest before the Women’s Bicycling Forum kicks off first thing Monday morning. RSVP here.
