Support Livable Streets Advocacy This Spring!

It’s springtime finally, and you know what that means — bike season is heating up, and so is construction season (for a few cities, that means new transit is in the works). Also, Streetsblog is asking for your support as we continue fighting for a livable, healthy and sustainable transportation system.

Things are really reaching a tipping point in American cities, and there’s more and more good news everyday. Whether its young people eschewing car travel for active transportation, the decline of the exurbs, or the coming streetcar tsunami  — it feels like a new dynamic is starting to take hold.

But the gears of government grind slowly. This year we saw a remarkable demonstration of backwardness from the House leadership in Washington. And misinformed or misguided authorities at the state or local level are always hard at working giving those guys a run for the money in the self-sabotage department — whether it’s calling car projects transit-oriented development, protecting parking welfare, or making a mockery of complete streets policy.

The broad-based membership of the Streetsblog Network is a unifying force in the livable streets movement, tying together people all over the U.S. who are working to make their cities and towns better places for walking, biking, and transit.
