Philly, Scranton and Rochester Hearings Postponed
As the House returns for an unusual Friday session to finish (one hopes) debating and voting on HR 1, the continuing budget resolution for FY2011, with its 583 amendments, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is breaking dates all over the country.
Its series of field hearings fizzled soon after it started, as the impending budget vote forced the committee to postpone yesterday’s hearing in King of Prussia, a Philadelphia suburb whose claim to fame is its shopping mall (the largest on the East Coast). The committee also postponed this morning’s hearing in Scranton, Pennsylvania’s City Hall, and now we hear that they’ve already thrown in the towel on tonight’s hearing at the airport in Rochester, New York.
So far, the committee is still planning on holding this weekend’s hearings in the Midwest as scheduled, and staff says they’ll be rescheduling the meetings they’ve missed.
