The year is coming to a close and the votes are in for the 2015 Streetsie awards. We asked readers to choose the most transformative street transformations, the most villainous villains, the dodgiest boondoggles of the year -- and some of the races were razor close. Only a few can go down as the worst of the worst and the best of the best. Here they are, your 2015 Streetsie winners.

The new year is right around the corner and it's time to take stock of the year that's passed. In 2015, we saw some painful setbacks and some important strides in the national movement for better walking, biking, and transit.

It's almost time to say goodbye to 2015, which means we're about to hand out Streetsies to recognize achievements for walking, biking, and transit in American cities this year.

Did your city turn a dangerous, high-speed street into a safe place to walk and bike this year? Got a new transitway or protected bike lane in your hometown that's changing how people get around? Streetsblog wants to know about it.

Happy New Year, everybody! Before we start fresh with a bright new year in which we will undoubtedly avoid all the mistakes we made this year (and every year before that), let’s take a look back at some highs and lows of 2014. The votes have been counted, and it's time to reveal the first batch of Streetsies. Tune in tomorrow for part two.

You've been waiting for it all year: your chance to sit in judgment of everyone who's been making our transportation system what it is today, from the advocacy heroes to the DOT bureaucrats to the drunk drivers. And you'll be glad to know that this year's batch of Streetsie polls are almost completely devoid of any Washington references to legislation and trust funds, because you know what? The bozos in Congress are going to have to actually do something one of these days to make it into the Streetsies. You don't get this honor for free.

Did your city implement a road diet this year that really knocks your socks off? Is there a street near you with a new light rail line, or a protected bikeway, or fresh red transit lanes and bus bulbs? How about a stoop-to-stoop rebuild that created more space for people to enjoy the sidewalks?
